Wellbeing

Mind and body relaxation is key…

Wellbeing is often associated with the absence of disease or illness.  But it is more than this- it is a complex combination of physical, mental and emotional  factors. Often, your physical state can impact your mental state. Our mind and body are inextricably linked – the mind never goes where the body doesn’t !

One aspect of wellbeing which is often overlooked is posture. Poor posture is common and it affects not only our attitude, but  the physical function of  our systems (respiratory, blood circulation, nervous, digestive)  and organs. Poor posture also makes us look older!

Many people suffer from poor posture through either standing or sitting incorrectly. Over time, long, static sitting  can be one of the major causes of back pain  and can also lead to joint degeneration which can undermine our overall wellbeing

The stress of poor posture can change the anatomical characteristics of the spine, leading to the possibility of constricted blood vessels and nerves, as well as problems with muscles, discs and joints. All of these can be major contributors to back and neck pain, as well as headaches, fatigue, and possibly even concerns with major organs and breathing.

Back support is especially important for people who sit for prolonged periods.

This is why health practitioners recommend the bodybolster. When used as a lumbar support, the bodybolster is designed to switch ‘off’ the muscles that aren’t meant to hold you up, and switch ‘on’ the ones that are. Used every day, it will help you regain good posture and ease away your muscle aches and back pain.

Additionally, the bodybolster is a great self-help tool to do gentle neck and back releases -either in bed or on the floor, to help relieve tightness and relax the back muscles. Using the bodybolster as a therapeutic tool to release tension in your muscles will activate and incorporate the nervous system mechanics at the same time, promoting mind and body relaxation.

Posture

Posture…how to relieve tension and pain

Slouching and inactivity cause muscle fatigue and tension that lead to poor posture. Symptoms of poor posture include back pain, joint degeneration, spinal dysfunction, rounded shoulders and pot-belly

Sitting for a prolonged period nowadays is inevitable – yet it is unnatural for our body. This is why we need to vary our position as well as get support.

The bodybolster not only supports but also keeps your spine in good condition. Your spine is stable but flexible, so  the bodybolster is  both firm and malleable (springy). The firmness supports, while the springyness promotes a wide variety of healthy joint movement – allowing nutrients to flow through the spine, reducing calcification.

The bodybolster’s many dynamic support functions will allow you to ease stiff or sore postures-so your time spent in sedentary postures can become more beneficial to your body.

Movement is the key.

There is a lot to the bodybolster’s design and function. It takes some practice and learning on your part to obtain the full potential and therapeutic benefits it can deliver.

The bodybolster is a therapeutic device and is listed on the Australian Register Of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) 142584 – Medical Device Class 1

Back Pain

Back pain…

The spine is an integrated unit consisting of 26 bony segments. It provides the support system of the back, neck and muscles, producing movement co-ordinated by the nervous system.

The spine makes the back flexible and stable – and a spine that is free of muscular stiffness allows fluid movement at all joints.

Movement that incorporates coordinated use of the entire spine lessens the load on any one area.

Some muscles may be habitually and unecessarily contracted (due to tense sitting postures or repetiitve movement). This may distort the shape of the spine and inhibit free flowing movement.

This can be avoided by incorporating the bodybolster into your daily life as a postural support and exercise tool. The bodybolster will allow muscles to yield, lengthen and increase range of movement through the joints.

Just like the spine which is flexible and stable, the bodybolster is firm yet malleable, allowing movement rather than forcing movement.

  • Instantly reduces muscle tension and aches
  • Promotes good posture alignment
  • Reduces neck strain, back pain and shoulder aches
  • Relieves pressure on lower back
  • Promotes postural and ergonomic awareness
  • Promotes safe in-chair stretching
  • Unique self-inflating feature- no pump

The bodybolster is listed on the Australian Register Of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) 142584 – Medical Device Class 1

Travel

Travel…

The simple act of travelling with lack of sleep, dehydrating flights and prolonged sitting, can leave even the healthiest person exhausted. Combine this with a packed schedule and staying fit when on the road becomes a challenge and quite often an inconvenience.

The reality is that it is during this time of heightened stress when you most require exercise, to help you release muscle tension and optimize function of all systems… ie respiratory, circulatory, immune, muscular, digestive, nervous etc.

Here are some simple and convenient ways to help you stay fit with the bodybolster - your portable gym – when on the road.

Use your ‘in-flight time’ productively!

The bodybolster allows you to perform extensive in-chair exercises to stretch, release muscle tension, improve blood circulation to avoid Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and of course, to support your back and neck.

There are 10 seated exercises that you can do during the flight to help you arrive at your destination feeling relaxed and supple.

When you get to the other end try some bodybolster stretches for the whole body and relaxing neck and back release exercises to reset your body and feel more invigorated.
